Tablescape Thursday/Parisian tablescape in black and white

Welcome to this week's Tablescape Thursday! I haven't posted a Thursday tablescape in some time, but I put a lot of thought and preparation into this one. To see a list of other Tablescape Thursday participants, please visit Susan's blog Between Naps on the Porch.

This week, I am doing a tablescape with a Paris theme. I actually got to visit Paris almost 10 years ago, and the charm and beauty of the city lives with me to this day. I yearn to return someday. In the meantime, I remain enchanted by anything Parisian!

Here is an overview of the table. It is done in black and white with touches of burgundy and gold.








The concept started when I walked into Goodwill one day and spotted 4 of the most darling black and white plates with French writing. They were only 55 cents a piece, so I snatched them up immediately! I wasn't about to let anyone else walk away with them. They each had a different design, all related to women's favorite fashion accessories. The first, and my favorite, was this darling shoe. It is a setting with my new (to me) vintage placemats and napkins that I found on my recent trip to an antique shop in Elmore, Ohio.


Since I really didn't want to go out and buy black plates just for this tablescape, I found some plastic plates for just a couple bucks. The plates fit inside perfectly! I also went cheap on the tablecloth. It's plastic and from WalMart for only a buck and a half.




The burgundy napkin rings were from Dollar Tree at a dollar for a package of eight. You sure can't beat that!


Here is one more plate, but I chose to display it on one of my cheesboard stands instead of putting it in a place setting.


Can't remember how much I paid for this vintage looking wallpocket, but I found it at a shop in Saint Joe, Michigan. Had it for years.


For the center of the table, I wanted something low so as not to block the view of the rear of the table. I used my new platter from my box of Clarmont dishes (from Big Lots), and topped it with my pink depression glass platter in the Mayfair pattern. I placed old jewelry on the platter.


I used to love to wear these earrings, but haven't had any reason to wear something this fancy in a long time.


Of course, no tablescape would be complete without the Target bird salt & pepper shakers!


Here is a pretty vignette that I've had for many years. Bought it from a woman I worked with at the time. Her sister made these by covering a hardback book with fabric, and then adding a small candlestick lamp and other items. This one appealed to me right away! I love the vintage burgunday purse, white gloves, and jewelry. I added the vintage burgundy box. It was from Avon years ago.


On either side of the vignette, I placed little Eiffel tower figures that I actually purchased from a shop on the first level of the Eiffel tower.


I've had this Parisian style clock for years. It doesn't work any more, but I have thought it was too pretty to toss.


I have had this vintage style lamp for years. I bought it either WalMart or KMart for around $20.


I've always loved the way the base looks with its little roses.


And no Paris themed tablescape would be complete without a bottle of Nouveau Beaujolais!
