I wasn't sure that I wanted to post my front porch because it didn't feel like a real porch to me, but more like a strip of patio. However, I went bargain shopping this weekend and found exactly the right bench! My look is almost complete! I caught the one little bit of sunshine for this pic during an otherwise gloomy overcast day.
To the left of my door is a small stone garden with big pieces of driftwood, possibly from the river. I have a green colored stone bunny sitting there also. Please ignore the crooked pillar that my oldest son fell into and displaced the day I moved in! My dream is to add wrought iron flower boxes with cocoa liners under each window. Wouldn't that look pretty?
I had a bronze star up on the wall next to the front door, but decided that with my flowers and bench, the red one was a better choice. I love stars and have them posted in many of my windows. I'm not sure yet what to do with the space below the star, but I'd love to have a white rocking chair there. Another thought is to have a black wrought iron plant stand with a big pot of more geraniums, or maybe some red and white impatiens with greenery.
Here is my big weekend find! Found it for just $40 at a craft shop. I spied it as soon as I walked in. It was PERFECT. I got the little angel statue for half price from Joann Fabric, and also got a good price on the silk geraniums in the cute white pot. The birdhouse was something I already had.
The above pic is not a front porch, but it's where I love to sit and relax. It's right to the side of my house off the family room. I keep adding things little by little because I want to make it like an outdoor room. I don't sit on my front porch sipping iced sweet tea, but I do here! If this looks familiar, its because it was in an earlier post and also on RMS.
I'm sure you will have a blast looking at everyone else's porches, so hie thee away to Rhondi's blog! http://rhondisrosecoloredglasses.blogspot.com/ Have a great day all!
