Pink Saturday/Pink depression glass & a pretty pink blogging friend

Welcome to this week's Pink Saturday post! I have a passion for depression glass, especially in the Mayfair pattern, also known as the open rose pattern. It's roses and it's pink, so why wouldn't I love it? I also collect pieces in light blue.

Here are two pieces that sit on my dresser in my bedroom. I have more...tucked away in a box somewhere...that I cannot seem to locate since I moved. I know they're here though! This first is a cookie jar. Unfortunately, it is not genuine depression glass. It is a reproduction and I spent way too much money on it on eBay. I've learned from my mistake though. I like to keep change in it. You'd be amazed how much money adds up!

Here is a pretty candy jar that I found at the local antique shop. I only paid $13 for it, so whether it's real depression glass or a reproduction, I got my money's worth! The point is whether its real or not, I love it! I keep jewelry in it.
Here are the two pieces together as they sit on my dresser. I love the way the sun shines through the glass.

And last, but by far not least, is a picture of one of my favorite Pink Saturday posters. Shelia has not been heard from since she fled her home on Galveston Island and posted that she was safely out of the way of Hurricane Ike.

Two recent posts have popped up on her blog Note Songs, but they appear to be auto posts. No one has actually heard from her since her last message on September 12. Though I am sure that she is safe, I am very concerned that no one has been able to get through to her. I am heartsick thinking that her beautiful home, into which she poured so much of her heart and love, may be severely damaged or no longer standing. If this is the case, I cannot imagine what she is going through. I found this wonderful sticker at Jan and Tom's Place. She has more information in a recent post here. Jan has given permission for bloggers to use the above sticker. Our Pink Saturday hostess Beverly has also posted about Shelia recently.

I'm posting this in support of Shelia, wherever she may be! I hope she will be able to come back to us all sometime soon. We miss you, sweet lady!

I think everyone who has ever been exposed to Shelia misses her; I know I sure do.

How do you tell that your dish is a reproduction? That's why I never buy that stuff; I know nothing!

Happy Pink Saturday!

Oh, I hope that your friend is heard from soon. It is just awful how so many people's homes have been devastated by the storm. She will be in my prayers. Karen

been praying for her. I cant imagine what she might be going through. Love your glass pieces, I have some my mother gave me. Like Joy, I would be scared to buy it not knowing how to tell it apart from the repro's. I sure would like more though !! :)

Happy Pink Saturday !! :)

I have added Shelia to my sidebar and look forward to the day we hear from her again...all the pictures I have seen coming out of Galveston are devastating. It is nice to have something pretty and pink to look at everyday as you do on your dresser. ;-) Bo

Praying your friend Sheila and her family are safe. I love your pink jars. And yes change does add up quickly. I saved all my change for 1 year so my Daughter and I could use it for fun money at our Lavender Festival. When I cashed it in it was $248. Happy Pink Saturday.

I love your pink stuff, girl, but I too am SO worried about Shelia. I've emailed her a million times and have not gotten a response. Since she did email when she got to her destination, we know she's got the ability to get online, right? My thoughts, and I hope they're wrong, is that she's so distraught she can't even come online to tell us she's okay. I feel sooooooooooo bad. I wanna do something for her!

I love your pink pieces...I have only one piece of pink depression glass and know for a fact that it is the real thing as my mom bought it during or right after the depression. Your pieces are lovely.

I, too, am so worried about Sheila...i am praying that she and her family are safe.
