Here are two pieces that sit on my dresser in my bedroom. I have more...tucked away in a box somewhere...that I cannot seem to locate since I moved. I know they're here though! This first is a cookie jar. Unfortunately, it is not genuine depression glass. It is a reproduction and I spent way too much money on it on eBay. I've learned from my mistake though. I like to keep change in it. You'd be amazed how much money adds up!
Here is a pretty candy jar that I found at the local antique shop. I only paid $13 for it, so whether it's real depression glass or a reproduction, I got my money's worth! The point is whether its real or not, I love it! I keep jewelry in it.
Here are the two pieces together as they sit on my dresser. I love the way the sun shines through the glass.

And last, but by far not least, is a picture of one of my favorite Pink Saturday posters. Shelia has not been heard from since she fled her home on Galveston Island and posted that she was safely out of the way of Hurricane Ike.
I'm posting this in support of Shelia, wherever she may be! I hope she will be able to come back to us all sometime soon. We miss you, sweet lady!
I think everyone who has ever been exposed to Shelia misses her; I know I sure do.
ReplyDeleteHow do you tell that your dish is a reproduction? That's why I never buy that stuff; I know nothing!
Happy Pink Saturday!
The pink dishes are really pretty...they look like great containers and you're putting them to good use. I too miss dear Sheila. I sure hope she and her beautiful home are safe.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope that your friend is heard from soon. It is just awful how so many people's homes have been devastated by the storm. She will be in my prayers. Karen
ReplyDeletebeen praying for her. I cant imagine what she might be going through. Love your glass pieces, I have some my mother gave me. Like Joy, I would be scared to buy it not knowing how to tell it apart from the repro's. I sure would like more though !! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday !! :)
Oops, That wasn't Joy, lol !! I guess I should drink more coffee before I try and communicate with the outside world, lol !!! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday, Kady.

Happy Pink Saturday! Lovely glass pieces!
ReplyDeleteI have added Shelia to my sidebar and look forward to the day we hear from her again...all the pictures I have seen coming out of Galveston are devastating. It is nice to have something pretty and pink to look at everyday as you do on your dresser. ;-) Bo
ReplyDeleteYour glass is beautiful whether it is real or a reproduction. I would love to have some of that some day.
ReplyDeleteI've also been worried about Shelia and her home. I hope someone hears from her soon. i will go check out Jan's post.

Your pink items are beautiful and useful too! It doesn't get any better than that I think. I will say a prayer for Shelia-my heart goes out to her and all those who have experienced such devastion.
ReplyDeletePraying your friend Sheila and her family are safe. I love your pink jars. And yes change does add up quickly. I saved all my change for 1 year so my Daughter and I could use it for fun money at our Lavender Festival. When I cashed it in it was $248. Happy Pink Saturday.

I love your pink stuff, girl, but I too am SO worried about Shelia. I've emailed her a million times and have not gotten a response. Since she did email when she got to her destination, we know she's got the ability to get online, right? My thoughts, and I hope they're wrong, is that she's so distraught she can't even come online to tell us she's okay. I feel sooooooooooo bad. I wanna do something for her!
ReplyDeleteJustine :o )
I love your pink pieces...I have only one piece of pink depression glass and know for a fact that it is the real thing as my mom bought it during or right after the depression. Your pieces are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am so worried about Sheila...i am praying that she and her family are safe.
love, bj
