Pink Saturday/ Pink Porcelain Plates

Edited to add:I am still without phone service and internet in my new place. Hopefully, it will be hooked up later tonight. However, when my son unplugged my computer at the old house on Saturday, it wouldn't start up again! Argghh! I am hoping that a friend of mine who fixes computers will be able to do something about mine. Not sure when I will be able to post with pics again. Right now I'm at the library.

Welcome to another Pink Saturday! Although I will be busy today with Round Two of moving the rest of my possessions into my new apartment and into storage, I still wanted to participate this week.

It has been a chore to unpack boxes, yet also so fun too because I am finding some things that never got unpacked at my house. What kept me from it? Not sure. I always had grand plans of setting up a formal living room at the house, but we lived in the family room. I was tired after work, and there was always so much to do on the weekends just for upkeep. And yeah, I was blogging too, lol.

Anyhow, I finally finished the area above my settee. This shelf with these plates used to be above my couch two homes ago. Please ignore the boxes and bags on either side of the settee! I'm still unpacking.

Here's a closer view.

I changed my mind about the picture that was going to hang above it. I'm saving my big roses picture for above my bed. When I first saw this picture at a Home and Garden party, I loved it! Click on the picture if you want to see more detail. I didn't want to spend full price on it, so hosted a party and got it for half price. It shows my ideal porch. I can picture myself sitting here with a glass of lemonade enjoying the warm weather as I watch neighbors walk by. Just look at all those pretty pink flowers!

Here are some porcelain plates on parade! The first is my very favorite of them all in beautiful shades of pink.

This next plate in green is my second favorite. The flowers don't look very pink here, but I think they are an orangey shade of pink.

I love this pink plate too.

I have a pair of these that came in a box of porcelain items that I won on auction on eBay a few years ago.

Enjoy the rest of my porcelain plates with pink flowers!

The only thing that mars the beauty of some of these plates is the sticky part where they price sticker was put. If anyone has any hints about how to remove it, please let me know!

I found most of these plates at antique or thrift shops. I would say that I got the majority for less than $10, but I do remember spending as much as $20 on one or two of them. They weren't a substantial investment, but I enjoy them so much. And I think they are glad to be out of the box so that they can be loved again!

  4. GOO GONE is the name of the product you need to get those sticky places removed. It doesn't cost much. It's a plastic 8 oz. bottle of yellow liquid, and it WORKS! I'm doing the Happy Dance because I had your answer! Happy Pink Saturday.

  5. K, there is also a product you can find in the scrapbooking aisle at craft stores that will take stickers off so quickly.

  10. Hi Kady! Oh, this is so pretty! I love that shelf and it's perfect for your plates. Now this is a solution for the sticky stuff on your plates. WD40 - yes, just spray it on and leave it a few seconds and rub it off with a soft cloth. You may have to apply it more than once, but this really does work for me and hope it will for you.

  18. Sally already nailed it. Goo Gone!!!! It really pisses me off when a store puts nasty stickers on stuff like this. And how about when they put them on the glass of a photo frame? There is an easy solution to this. A damn DECAL. THEY come right off.
Anyway, love the way the shelf looks over your little settee. Very nice work, Kady!

  19. Kady, that wall looks beautiful with all those lovely plates on the shelf! I could not live without Goo Gone for exactly the problem you're having. You can buy it at Wal Mart or just about anywhere. It's a yellow liquid in a see through bottle. It works WONDERS!!! You'll wonder how you ever lived without it! I've always wondered why stores don't put stickers on the backs or bottoms of items rather than smack dab front and center!!! ... Donna @ An Enchanted Cottage
