It's time again for Pink Saturday! Can you believe that it has already been one year since Pink Saturday was begun by Beverly at How Sweet the Sound?
Though any time is good for pink, I think spring is an especially good time for all things pink. Look at this beautiful rose I found outside my front windows!
When I saw the rose bush in early spring, I didn't know if it was dead or not. I began to see green thorny stems growing, then today noticed the first rose!
I'm so glad I got to share in this Pink Saturday First Anniversary with my special guest Stella! To read more about her, click on her picture in the sidebar. She is native to England, and has been on many adventures while in the United States and has visited several different households!
Stella and I visited the house on Bonnie Lane, which we still have possession of. Long story. Anyhow, she found peonies growing in the back yard. She couldn't resist a sniff.
They have been pink before, but this is the first year I have noticed that they have become variegated with two shades of pink. I think this is even prettier!
I just love peonies. I think they grow even prettier as they get older and the blooms are even more open.
They're even pretty closed.
These peonies were in the side yard getting ready to bloom. They are a deeper pink.
Stella said she thought these buds looked like Mother Nature's lipstick.
She even crept up to the bud and kissed it. I didn't notice any difference, but Stella swears her lips are more pink.
Stella also found these little pink flowers in the back.
Okay, this isn't pink, but I thought this purple iris was pretty. Do you see the little orange poppy in the background?
This next picture has absolutely nothing to do with Pink Saturday, but I thought this picture of my son Sean with the neighbor dog Harley was just too sweet. I swear, Harley is just about the prettiest dog I have ever seen. He is really shy, but Sean was patient with him and now they are best buddies. When I saw them in the yard, Harley was leaning his head on Sean's legs and looked so loving! All dogs and small children love Sean.
I'm tickled pink today because I was able to get my van window fixed and insurance paid everything! There wasn't even a deductible! If I had to pay it on my own, it would have cost $275, and since it would have been a while for me to come up with the money, I would have been driving around with my very ghetto looking black garbage bag covering it up. I was so happy to get a real window, and they came right to my house to fix it!
I'm also tickled pink to have my first new pair of glasses in 10 years (courtesy of the state). I finally had to make my first concession to being 50 and admit I needed bifocals. Wow, they really work! I had been having such a hard time seeing the really fine print, like in our phone books, but now it is clear as a bell! I was also having trouble reading because my eyes would tire quickly and the words would become blurred. No more! My dilated eye exam turned out just fine too.
Anyhoo, have a great Pink Saturday, and don't forget to visit Beverly to see a list of other participants who you can visit!
Happy pink saturday
ReplyDeleteLots of luv,
Ita
Thanks for sharing all your beautiful pink flowers in your lovely garden. Stella looks like she is enjoying being amongst them all.

girl, if you still own the house on Bonnie Lane, why don't you take some of those plants with you? Even if you don't have any yard space, you can put them in pots!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of your boy with Harley too. So sweet. Of course, I love anything to do with animals. Well, animals that are alive anyway. Yesterday, a deer tried to jump my friend's fence. (she lives in KS) and it got stuck and ripped its leg open. Long story short, Bambi is now sausage in her freezer.
Justine :o )
With our little PINK SATURDAY having a birthday this week, I am on "pink overload" and that is difficult to do to me! I'm lovin' it like crazy!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely pinks this week you have, my dear. The better to see your through my rose colored glasses!☺
Have a great weekend. Not all that warm up in my neck of the woods but the sun is out and that makes the day good. I hope you are surrounded by those you love and that you, too, are bathed in sunshine.
You know, it's funny Justine just commented on what I was thinking - you should dig up a few of those plants - especially your peony- they like live for forever. Your son must be one of those special souls - animals and little kids just sense it - my Jacob is the same way - dogs and kids are attracted to him, too. Isn't it amazing when you get new glasses or contacts -how you can look down and see every grain of sand (and every crumb on the floor- LOL) ~ Robyn
ReplyDeletewow, what lovely surprises were awaiting in your garden. I love the fellow with the sweet dog!! happy pink saturday, Char
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday - I love the peonies!
ReplyDeleteI am curious how you went from Bonnie Lane to On the Edge - that photo is amazing! I'm going to keep reading your blog!
Problem is that when I take my glasses off and put them on the counter I can't see to find them again. Yes I do agree bifocals are a life saver since I turned 50 but we will not discuss what year exactly that was:) I love the little Stella.

Yes, take some plants with you, although peonies don't transplant all that well - I'd be careful about that. Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteLovely pink flowers....I love peonies....
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Sunday!
I am glad Stella enjoyed the flowers today. The picture of Harley reminds me of our dog. Shanti was a sheltie and looked very much like the dog with your son. We had to put him down in 2002. He was 16 years old at the time. I am so glad you were able to get your van window fixed. I was a little worried about that problem.
ReplyDeleteAren't you glad you didn't remove the "once thought" dead rose bush cause look at that bright pink flower :-)
ReplyDeleteI've seen Stella a few times and from different places. She sure has traveled a lot :-)
Happy PS!

My eyes are not working so very well as they used to either. It was interesting to hear you say that you couldn't even read because your eyes would blur. The same happens to me! I WANT to keep reading, but I can't SEE the book! So far, I'm getting away with Dollar-store eyeglasses, but I'm not sure how much longer that will fly!
ReplyDeleteWell, Stella sure looks like she's having fun smelling all the beautiful flowers! Happy Pink Saturday, and have a wonderful week!
I love those pink peonies...they are one of my favorite flowers...but I have ZERO luck growing them!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday, Kady. I loved visiting with you and Stella. She does get around, doesn't she? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love peonies, and I hope to have some blooms next year.
Congratulations on your glasses.
