Here Comes the Bride! And Giveaway Winners

This is my dear daughter Tara and her fiance Mike, and today at 2:00 p.m...
...they're getting married!

It has been a rough road for the two of them. They were originally scheduled to get married last December, but due to a series of unfortunate events, the wedding had to be postponed. Since last November they've survived job loss and unemployment, repossession of a car, eviction, temporary homelessness, and a change of location.

But they've landed on both feet. They've both found jobs and have been working for months, have their own apartment again, and recently were able to buy a car. I am so proud of these two kids and how hard they have worked to turn things around for themselves!

Since they are barely scraping by, the wedding will be modest. Some of you may recall that I was able to find a wedding dress for her on eBay for only $75!

We did have to pay to get it altered, but she said it now fits like a glove!

They are going to be married in Mike's aunt's yard. Guests will be bringing passing dishes and their own lawn chairs. It may not be the wedding that she dreamed of, but what she dreamed of had always been more about the man and the actual marriage than of the wedding itself.

I haven't posted about this before because even as of a couple weeks ago, things were not firmly in place. She had problems finding an officiant and a place to have the wedding. She was ready to just go to the courthouse and get married by a judge, and she would have been getting married on...wait for this...9/11! I told her there was no way in hell that this would be her anniversary!

Anyhow, all is in place now and we're ready to rumble! I'll post wedding pics as soon as I can.

Now to announce my giveaway winners:

The winner of the pink stand is LaVoice from Thoughts from Meme's Corner, a new reader to my blog. She was just thrilled to be the winner and that really warmed my heart.

And the winner of the cookbook is Melissa from Melissa's Heart and Home. She has a beautiful blog that you really must visit! Please visit both ladies.

Congrats! Your gifts will be in the mail in another week or two!

Have a great day all. I know that my baby girl is getting married today and my day will be spectacular!
