Pink Saturday/Pink Tea Party

It's been a while, but I am once again joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday!

This week I'd like to share a special link. Please visit Katillac Shack to see an amazing room makeover that Kat created for a cancer patient. We need more people like her to bring cheer to people in trying circumstances! She is also having several giveaways for those who leave comments. Also, Guidepost magazine will leave a donation of one dollar for each comment posted, so that others can receive this same kind of gift. It's such a worthwhile cause, and will take only a minute of your time.

Since the last time I posted for Pink Saturday, I have acquired the accoutrements for a pink tea party!

I pulled out my old pink Goodwill tablecloth, and added an old white cover.

My angel statuary takes a turn as a table decoration, with pink flowers in her hair!

I found the pink roses plate at Goodwill for only fifty-five cents, then later found the teapot at a church garage sale for $3!

Isn't that little bud rose at the top precious?

This pink rose is also a Goodwill find for three bucks.

The spoon and knife were part of a giveaway that I won a couple years ago. I've had the perfume bottle for a long time. I think it was a garage sale find.

For some reason, the color isn't quite right here. However, this really is a teacup with little pink roses. I couldn't find the matching plate, so found one that would still complement the cup. Both were fifty-five cents each at GW.

On a trip home from a short vacation, I found this beautiful cup in an antique shop. I was so touched by the "mother" reference, and decided it must come home with me!

This was another lucky find at Goodwill. I think I spent a total of just over a dollar.

I thought that a tea party was the perfect way to share my new pink finds. Won't you come over and have a cuppa?

Please visit Beverly's above-mentioned blog for a list of other Pink Saturday participants.

Tablescape Thursday/Pink Saturday -- Pink Valentine's Table

This post is doing double duty today as both Tablescape Thursday and Pink Saturday.

This Sunday is Valentine's Day, a day when you should spoil your special someone (if you have someone! If not, spoil yourself.) Here's a pic of my current background on my desktop.

As an avid Goodwill shopper, I am always on the lookout for the perfect plate with which to do a tablesetting. I found some sweet plates with pink roses. They are edged in silver so I added silver chargers and a silver sugar and creamer set.

The table was set with a pink tablecloth layered over a white one. The placemats are the ones I have used again and again that I found in a vintage store.

Candlelight is always romantic, so I wanted to show the table in the dark with candles aglow.

Here is a closer view of the table setting. Forgot to add that the pink goblets are from Goodwill for less than a dollar. The plates were fifty-five cents each. The chargers were marked way down at Dollar General for about sixty-six cents. The pink heart candles were only thirty-five cents each from GW. The candlestick was less than a dollar at GW. The sugar and creamer were a dollar each from GW.

Here you can see the pink rose in detail. I thought these were just the prettiest and most romantic plates! I had never thought to use pink and silver together, but they sure do fit together...just like Valentine sweethearts!

The candles were so pretty lit...in light and dark settings...

...and even unlit.

I added my painted stand and porcelain pink rose.

Here is a close up of the wine goblet. I love the pink shades. So perfect for Valentine's Day!

Of course, a romantic dinner would not be complete without a bottle of wine. This is a bottle of Strawberry Patch dessert wine from a local winery. I've drank it before and it's very yummy.

I won't be celebrating Valentine's Day with a special someone, but do plan to create another tablescape geared toward my children who are my very heart! I'll post that next week.

To see more Tablescape Thursday posts, please join Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. For more Pink Saturday posts, please join Beverly on Saturday at How Sweet the Sound.

Happy tablescaping and enjoying all things pink! May you have a wonderful Valentine's Day.

Pink Saturday/Pink Roses Plate and a Pink Purpose

It's been a long time since I participated in Pink Saturday, sponsored by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. However, I found this little treasure recently at Goodwill for pennies, and wanted to share it with you. It goes well with all of my other pink floral plates, but this one is smaller.

And now for the most important part of my post! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Please do your self exams in the shower.

And schedule a mammogram if you haven't yet.

They really aren't as bad as women think. I have only felt a little pressure on my breasts, no actual pain.

If you are over 40 years old and need a mammogram or Pap test and you are within 200% of poverty level, have no insurance, Medicaid or Medicare, you may be eligible for free exams. Please call your local health department and ask about the Breast and Cervical Cancer Project. There may be a waiting list, but if you have a family history of any breast or cervical cancers, you will be able to get in more quickly.

I have my exams on November 10. When you click on my button in the right hand column, it really does go to help a woman get her exams and stay healthy. I am one of them!

This is being posted today in honor of my cousin Wendy who died of breast cancer years ago, my Aunt June and Aunt Tiny who were survivors, and my dear friend Carol Jean who passed away just last month from a 6 year battle with breast cancer.

You can find this sweet angel pin on the Cancer Society's website. I thought she was perfect for remembering those brave women.

What are you waiting for? Call your doctor's office and get scheduled today! After all, we want you around for many, many more Pink Saturdays!

Pink Saturday/ Goodwill and Antique Store Finds

Sorry that I am so late getting this posted today! In order to download pics, I have to do it on my son's computer, and he wasn't home last night. I also fell asleep before I got any pics taken. Oops!

Anyhow, Pink Saturday is a weekly event hostessed by Beverly at How Sweet the Sound. She works hard sending out emails every week and getting the list posted.

Even though this is not a Tablescape Thursday post, I haven't done one in a few weeks, so this should satisfy those who are missing my tablescapes, as well as being a Pink Saturday post. Just look what I have this week! I sure do love Goodwill, and most of these finds are from there. Here are a couple views of the table set for one. I am using the antique white linens that I found at the antique shop in Elmore. I also found the pretty painted porcelain plate there as well. My pink tablecloth was a Goodwill find a couple years ago.

Here is a close up of the rose plate. I just love this. I think it only cost me $8 at the antique shop.

I couldn't resist this pink ashtray for only $2. Although I don't smoke, and would NEVER let someone put their ashes in this, it is perfect for holding my jewelry.

I have wanted a porcelain rose figurine, and finally found this treasure at Goodwill for only $3! I have it sitting on one of the cheeseboard stands that I made.

And here it is under glass. This lives on a shelf in my bedroom.

Here is a closer view of the table setting. I found it stacked together just like this on the shelf at Goodwill. That was a sign for sure! The pink plate was $.55, and the two flower plates were $.35 each. In this setting, I added the napkin from the white linenes, and have a napkin ring from the Claremont collection of dishes that I found at Big Lots. There is a LOT more to this set, but I will tell you more about it at another time.

Here is another view.

You can see the cute flowers on the smaller plate a little better from this view.

Here is an alternate setting using one of the Claremont salad plates layered under the smaller flowered plate.

I get so happy when I find bargains like these! It makes it possible to put together a lovely setting at such an affordable price. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I do!

Happy Pink Saturday, everyone!

Pink Saturday/ Stella Shops for Pink!

Stella told me that she just loves pink! While we were out shopping this week, she pointed out some beautiful things in pink. Isn't she just the best helper? And she has exquisite taste!

As always, you can click on any pic to enlarge for details.

Here she is with some pretty vintage dishes. Even the canisters have a band of pink in them!

These transferware plates were spotted at TJ Maxx on the shopping trip earlier this week with my daughter. So pretty! Even with the discount prices, still just a little out of my reach.

Stella and I thought these were extra cute, and there were matching dishes.

While this pitcher isn't pink, I just thought that she shell shape was most unique! Stella said she thought it would be nice with the pink dishes too. Yes, it would, but I think I would like it better with a sea blue, sand colored and white beach motif.

When I took my daughter home to Toledo yesterday, we stopped in a candle shop, and spotted these sweet furniture pieces in pink. The cradle was lined in pink toile. How precious!

Stella, my daughter and I all went gaga over this girly arrangement.

There will be more in tomorrow's posting about the trip to the locally renowned candle company!

To see more Pink Saturday posts, go visit Beverly at How Sweet the Sound.

In upcoming Stella posts, she resorts to some naughtiness! I guess she wanted to have some adventures, so stay tuned!

Pink Saturday/ Pink Flowers

Welcome to another Pink Saturday! This is a weekly event hostessed by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound. Please stop by her blog to see a list of all the other participants.

Look what I found outside in my front yard last week! This tree had finally bloomed and was covered in delicate white buds.

I thought it was so pretty.

So where is the pink that I promised? It's in there somewhere!

Aha, here it is! I thought these were so lovely.

We won't talk about how all of those white petals eventually came off and stuck all over my vehicle. Today's rains washed it all off though. It sure was pretty while it lasted though!

I paid a visit to the house on Bonnie Lane, which is apparently still in our possession. I'm glad I could still see some of the spring flowers blooming. At least a couple of them were pink, and the lilacs were blooming too!

This is one reason I just love spring...all of the pretty flowers blooming everywhere!

Stay tuned this week for some posts featuring a visitor that just arrived at my door Friday afternoon! Oh, I am going to have so much fun with my guest. Some of you already know who it is. I should be posting something in the next day or two!

Happy Pink Saturday everyone!
