Blue Monday/ A NOT Blue Dress

Remember this blue dress that I wanted for my daughter's upcoming wedding? Well last week I ordered it. I got a great deal because there was an online coupon for $30 off my order! I was so excited. The dress got here on Saturday.
Well my excitement turned to dismay when I opened the package. The dress didn't photograph well, but take a look at these ribbons that hold the dress on the hanger. Does this look like blue to you?
If anything, it was a periwinkle blue, almost purple. Not a light blue or sky blue. Nothing like the picture online and in the catalog. I was also disappointed in the beadwork on the dress. It looked like it was crystal or white or silvery in the pic. Take a look at this though.
I just thought they looked garish. The dress color doesn't show up well here at all, but the beads are a little too much. I took a pic of my blue shoes to show you what kind of blue I was hoping for. Ironically, my blue shoes photographed as the same periwinkle, purply, even though they are blue.
So the color of the shoe above is about the same color as the dress. The same shoes below show the true color.
I just love those blue shoes, but they do hurt my feet. Not a big problem though as I only spent $6 on them at Walmart a few years ago. I also got a pair in turquoise too, so I'm showing on of them just for shits and giggles. After all, this is supposed to be a blue post.

So anyhow, I am probably going to return the dress. I'm on the hunt for something else dressy and blue. I might even try for something navy blue and silvery.

I might not even need the dress though. If Tara and Mike don't both have jobs soon, they are going to have to hold off on the wedding. My daughter is on a mission though to find work because she wants to be married!

Sorry about the dress. The color is really not the same as the picture...funny how that works...NOT. I snickered at your blue shoes in the post...cute.

Sending good vibes to your daughter and FH in hopes they land a job soon.

Happy Blue Monday.

Ugh! So sorry about the dress, I've had that happen before and I can so empathize. I know the right dress is out there just waiting for you!
Lots of ~~find a job~~ vibes for your daughter and fiance. Times are tough right now but I'm forever the optimist. They'll find something!
Hugs and Happy Blue Monday

How sad about your dress! And the hemline fascinates me too! I agree with you about the beading looking a bit garish! But hey! Perhaps you are meant to find something even more beautiful than the catalogue image! Keep looking!

It's always a bummer when what you order isn't what they show in the pictures. From the picture it was great, but I didn't like the beading on the one they sent you, either.

I've had that happen too. The dress in the picture is gorgeous, and when it arrives, it's almost like it's another dress! Navy is a good idea; I wore a Navy dress for my children's weddings. Yes, I had a "s" on that word; I have two children and they married 6 months apart. I wore the same dress to both weddings. Hey! Don't judge! ;-) Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday!

Boy I'm sorry that turned out so poorly for you. I know how frustrating it is to have be excited like that and then be let down. : (

I guess when they photographed the dress they enhanced the color. That is definitely not the same color. Oh well, maybe you'll find an even better dress. Happy Blue Monday. Karen

Sorry that dress wasn't what it was supposed to be, but maybe you have the time to find what will work for you. I hope your daughter has luck in finding a job too.

Hugs,

It looks like one dress in the catalog and another that arrived. I do like the blue of the shoes. I hope that you find a dress you like with some glitter - I love glitter. I wish your daughter and her fiance good luck in finding jobs. Happy Blue Monday.

Good luck finding a dress that is more to your liking. That is so disappointing when the catalog/online view is very different from reality.

Sorry your dress did not work out, I know how your daughter feels, I am job hunting myself.

I wish her all the luck in the world! Tell her for me that as a mom studying, that she should do her adult studies before having kids!

Ugh, I see what you mean. That beading is gaudy, not at all what it looks like in the catalog picture!

How disappointing to hear that the dress wasn't what you thought it would be. I've had similar things happen to me in the past, so I finally gave up ordering clothing on-line and out of catalogs. If I can't find it in a store, I won't buy it. I hope your luck will change for the better and that you will soon find the perfect dress for your daughters wedding.

Happy Blue Monday...

Hi Kady, Oh, so sorry about that! I had that happen to me once. I ordered a really cute quilt that was blue and pink, when I got it in the mail, it looked purple not blue!
Good luck finding what you want. The shoes do look comfortable!

Oh, Kady, I'm so sorry. That's false advertising if I've ever seen it! The shoes are really pretty! I know you'll find the right dress.

You've been Boo-ed! Come to my site and see what you get!
Happy Halloween,
Shelia ;)

I hate it when that happens! Online clothes shopping is always risky because I guess you never know until you try it on or see it in person... but the shoes are still cute!!

Aw man, that's a bummer the dress didn't work out! It certainly does look periwinkle tho...

Hey Kady...gosh, I hate that the dress showed up the wrong color...I sure love the shoes. I have a black, tan, and bluejean pair just like them...they were a great deal at wal'mart a few years ago. Yep, 6 bucks. Hope you find the right color of dress soon and that your daughter and future son in-law find jobs soon too. I hope everything goes well.
