Tablescape Thursday/ Lilac Dishes

I had so much fun with this week's tablescape! Since the lilacs first bloomed at the beginning of May, I had wanted to do a tablescape with lilacs using a spectrum of purple shades and greens. Here is what I came up with! (This will be a Stella-free post today. She'll be back in a day or two!)

Sadly, I was not able to gather all the elements together before the lilacs died off, but the idea was still in my head. I go to the local Goodwill frequently, and by that, I mean at least twice per week. The good stuff gets snatched up fast! I swear, my heart skipped a beat when I laid eyes on these beautiful plates with lilacs! I thought I was going to pee my pants. These were perfect and EXACTLY what I needed for my table! Not only were there plates, there were accessories! I found the dinner plates, salad plates, cups and saucers, butter pats, and an oval dish. Grand total for 4 place settings...$14!

A couple days ago I found the placemats, a set of four for $2, and the light green napkins, $1 for a set of 4. They had not been there the day before, and were again, exactly what would be just right for the table!

Aren't these lilacs gorgeous? The plates are by Home Arts China. I wish I could tell you more about the plates, but I couldn't find out anything about the pattern.

I added some green depression glass sherbert cups that I inherited from my mother. The pink glasses were Goodwill finds for $.35 each that I featured in an earlier tablescape.

You may wonder why I only show three settings. Well, with my boys and I, that's only three of us, and the table is against a wall, so I think its more fun to decorate that end. To hide the wall, I added a floral fan in shades of lilac, green, and pinks. I've had it for years. The table is covered by a floral fabric that I have had for about 14 years. Then I added some items I had around the house in greens and purples.

It's funny, but purple has never been one of my favorite colors. I LOVE the combination of purples and greens here though!

I found this green box at a cute shop last summer for half price, and featured it in a blog post last August.

I've had the birdhouses for some time. The one on the right sits on one of the cheeseboards that I painted.

The cigar boxes are also some antique shop finds that I've found. I couldn't resist the purple!

This green plate was a recent Goodwill find at only a dollar! I snatched it up without hesitation.

I took the dome from the cheeseboard and covered it. The little purple eggs look distorted by the glass! I'm thinking that something else would look better under the glass, but this was all I could think of.

As you saw in one of last week's posts, I finally have my Target birdies! They fade away on this white table cover though.

These white vases were only a couple dollars each at Goodwill. I think they will be very versatile for future tablescapes. I had hoped to fill them with fresh lilacs! You know, I couldn't even find faux lilacs anywhere, so I used some candlerings that I have had.

I have had the white table cover for so long, I don't even remember where I got it. I love the detail on it!

Let me tell you, this tablescape stuff is addictive! I am having so much fun with it, but might not be able to continue with many more posts. Even thrifting, things can start to add up. However, I do have a lot of single painted porcelain plates, so you may see something featuring them, or even some single place settings.

Happy Tablescape Thursday everyone!

How pretty kady, but I've gotta tell you. You'd better get a job soon or you're going to be hiding plates behind the curtains and under the bed like gollum soon. You are truly addicted!

Kady,

This is so pretty!! I love the color combo of purple and green. The only thing better than your table is your thrifting abilities. With those Goodwill prices you can fill up an entire room with dishes and linens!!

I especially love the glass dome over the plate. Very innovative. I am sure you will come up with a lot of other ideas for it and to display all over your home. The vignette by the wall is also a great idea!

I just love this. Bravo!! ;-)

I would never have thought to use purple and green together, but it looks so pretty. This tablescape is just lovely. I love lilacs too, so I would have been jumping up and down if I'd found those at GW too! What a great idea to decorate the end of the table. That looks so pretty, and doesn't obstruct the view across the table. You are creative enough that you'll be able to post more tablescapes with the same china patterns and switch some things up and make it look all new! I've posted the same plates several times on Tablescape Thurs. laurie
