I'm Home!

I'm finally home from the hospital! It was quite an ordeal. As most of you already know, I could not have the laparoscopic sugery because my gall bladder was too infected and the gallstones were just too big. I have an 8-9" incision across my belly, and the doctor said he could still hardly get the damn thing out of me. I also ended up with a drainage tube, but that was removed yesterday. It was all quite painful, and they had me on morphine for the first three days, and now I'm on percocet, and no, it isn't even giving me a head rush so no fun with meds here! That's okay. I didn't want to be feeling high anyhow.

I thought I got pretty good care at the hospital and I personally knew some of the staff there already. One of my childhood best friends was the charge nurse this weekend! I spent my 50th birthday in the hospital, but the hospital sent up a birthday cake for me! It was even one that I as a diabetic could eat as it was angelfood with diet strawberry jello and cool whip on the top. I was quite touched. The nurse said they didn't want to put 50 candles on it though because of fear of setting off the smoke alarm. Heh. Today I got to sit in the shower and boy oh boy, was that ever just the best feeling!

When I got home, the house was a mess. I bawled. Then I realized that I was cold. The furnace had quit working! I bawled and bawled some more. I think the lady at the furnace repair shop took pity on me because someone came out right away, and I have heat again! This is one of those very few times that I wished I had a husband!

Anyhow, it meant so much to me to read all your comments and know that I was in your prayers. My son printed them off for me and brought them to the hospital. I read them over several times and your comments really cheered me up! You don't know how much you all mean to me! I probably won't be able to make many blog visits, but wanted to let you all know that I am home and slowly improving.

Welcome home! I am glad you had a quick fix for your heater. I know how that feels. We have not had a working furnace for 3 years now. Have not been able to figure it out ourselves and can't afford to do anything else about it. So we are cold alot. We use 2 space heaters and only heat the room{s} we are using at the time. Most of the time that works okay. Oh, and dress in layers. I am glad you are going to be okay. Take it easy and get better. Sounds like staff at the hospital was wonderful in celebrating your birthday with you. That is great!

We are glad you are back. I am glad things are getting better. I know I cry way easier when I don't feel good. Don't worry about the house. You can take care of that later. Hugs, Terrie

So glad you are home my sweet Kady!! Wow! That sounds so much like a cesarian section! Take your time and heal, glad you got some cheer on your birthday.

Can you hire any help with the house work while you recuperate? See you in blogland when you can.

Kady, I'm so glad you are home and recuperating! Take care of yourself and get lots of rest. (I'm sure they told you not to pick up anything. I had a 3 mo. old daughter when I had my surgery, and I did split my incision open, but who can wait on someone else to pick up their 3 mo. old daughter when she's crying?) My scar is much larger than it would have been had I not done that. laurie

Hooray! You are now on the Good side of surgery: the healing side. I'm so sorry that you went through so much, and over your special birthday too! Then, you come home to a cold, messy house! If you were able, I'd tell you to KICK your son!

Ah well, life will get better day by day. Thank the Lord that you're home and healing. You've been missed.

Yippeeeeeeeeee! I'm so glad you're home! I think it's horrible that the boys didn't take care of the house for you though, so that you could walk into a nice clean house. Geez. Slap them silly when you're feeling better!

And thank goodness you got the furnace fixed! Now dry those tears and HEAL!

WELCOME HOME KADY!! What an ordeal you've been through girl! I'm glad you are out of the hospital but what a mess to come home to YIKES!! It never fails around here, everytime Wes has had surgery... washer threw a baring, the hot water heater burst and flooded the basement, then the sump-pump went out when it was POURING rain. It's the little things in life that make it so memorable. Just want you to know you're not the only one that has these lovely incidents occur! LOL
We have boys too, once young, and we understand what can happen to a house in a matter of hours!! Well a matter of moments! This too shall pass Kady! Our hearts go out to you!! Wes said it's too bad we don't live closer, he'd come over and clean house for you and get those boys in line!! LOL
Will be praying for you sweetie!
Big hugs, Sherry (& Wes)

I am so happy that the surgery is over, and you are home--and that you have heat. I sure know what it's like to come home after surgery, or a book tour, and find a mess. I can tell you for a fact that the dishes can wait (Erma Bombeck was right). Take it easy...and Happy Birthday!

Ooooh, it's so good to hear that you are home!!! I'm certainly glad that your furnace got fixed right away. And don't worry about the mess... I've found messes are still there when I'm feeling better (unless someone else has cleaned them up as a surprise!)... Wishing you many surprises, Kady!!!... Donna @ An Enchanted Cottage

WELCOME HOME!!!!!
I'm so happy to hear that you are out of the hospital.
I don't get a buzz from pain killer either so I find it hard to understand why people lust after them. They do come in handy at a time like this. I've have my midsection opened up so I know what that feels like and it ain't good so pop those pills for a while.
Hugs, Bridget

Hi Kady! HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY!!!! Sorry I missed it! I'm even more sorry you had to spend it in the hospital! Glad they brought you a cake, and that you are feeling better.
That sucks about your furnice too; always something isn't it?

I think we have a lemon furnice/ac unit. We had it installed when we moved in, and have had trouble EVERY season change. GRRR!

I apologize for not visiting lately, so busy with Christmas stuff.

"Wear these while you poop", ROFL!! OMG, hahahha...

Your quilt is just AMAZING. All that hand work. Wow. What a treasure!!

I had to laugh at your Thanksgiving pics because in the one where everyone is eating, it looks like Tara is holding a mouse, haha! I assume it's a peice of toiky tho..heeee.

Have a very Merry Christmas if I'm not able to pop in before then!
Hugs!

Now I'm crying too! I'm so sorry you had to have the more difficult surgery and that your heat was off when you arrived home. Having just lost my husband recently, I dread it when/if I have to go through something like this alone. I pray for a speedy recovery for you and I so wish I were near by so I could pop over and give you a helping hand. xoxo

Oh My Dear Kady!
I had NO idea that you have been sick and then in the hospital. I know it aint fun...take it from a pro who's had over 11 surgeries (4 in a 10 day period, due to a botched hysto/bladder). Okay..I have been very bad about keeping up with peeps...my folks were here before Thanksgiving, then left, but we had my hubs neice/nephews family for Thanksgiving...then I got bronchitis and still am way behind and not feeling back to 100 percent.

I have just prayed for you..to have a speedy recovery and to get well soon!

Gentle Hugs..Lorena

I'm really behind in my blog reading with all the Christmas prep plus I'm knitting my daughter a scarf so my blog reading time has been cut down to almost nothing!

I'm so glad you are okay and you're back at home! Well, you'll never forget your 50th Birthday! Happy Belated Birthday! I love the necklace!
